I braved the crazy wind to get a little present for Mum. I came home with a few things for myself too- a tiny Japanese ceramic bowl and a notebook to take with me to Bali.

Handshaped ceramics make my heart go soft, especially the forms that are imperfect and irregular, the ones that make you feel as though you can see the artist's hands that shaped them. When I get back from Indonesia I think I will join a potter's class that I've been meaning to go to but just kept putting off. Making such beautiful shapes must be extremely satisfying.
Hope to be filling this (very soon!) with stories of Bali; new foods, landscapes, colour and culture.
Very cold feet. Sheltering inside from the relentless wind.
