Beautiful native proteas I bought a few weeks ago from the fruit shop near where I work. They were loosely bunched together with some Eucalyptus leaves and I stuck them in an old kitchen jar. I loved looking at them every day (and smelling the leaves- heady, strong Eucalypt). They are truly incredible flowers and they only grow in the Southern Hemisphere. The petals are furry like a peach, and the core of the flower is made up of these tiny, hairy white stamen that look like moths' antennae. And the flower itself is about as big as a rockmelon. I love them.
