Some things, experiences, and words that I found to be good, true and helpful this week.
----------------------------------------

Good memories.
Swimming in the mediterranean, eating fresh seafood,
being with my family.

A funny look back at a younger self and a poem
I could probably still learn a lot from today.

Mum's garden. Fresh herbs.

Op-shop finds. Only $1 (but it will need a lot of tailoring)!

This beautiful, honest talk, by William McInnes.

Sitting above crashing waves is a good feeling.
-----------
Another really interesting talk here, about small acts of resistance.

"He spoke only a few words, but those words contained the entire teaching: in your seeing, there should only be seeing; in your hearing nothing but hearing; in your smelling, tasting, touching nothing but smelling, tasting, touching; in your cognizing, nothing but cognizing."

- the Art of Living as taught by SN Goenka

This song. By the best Beatle.

"To love, in the context of Buddhism, is above all to be there. But being there is not an easy thing. If you are not there, how can you love? Our body might be there, but our mind is somewhere else. Maybe you are lost in regrets about the past, maybe in worries about the future, or else you are preoccupied with your plans, with anger or with jealousy. And so your mind is not really there with your body. With mindful breathing, you can bring body and mind together in the present moment, and everyone of us can do it, even a child. The most precious gift you can bring to the people you love is your true presence."

- Thich Nhat Hanh, True Love
I really need to remember and practice this.

Hi Kiara,

Thank you for sharing your website.

There is such gentleness to your words, photos & illustrations.

Of your recent posts Goenka’s words struck me, followed by the Lenig cartoon below.
The circus of the mind is such a convincing and confident display, until it meets simplicity and it begins to laugh at itself.

I enjoy watching myself get in such a tangle, living in that concentrated space above my head until I notice the first deep breath I have taken all day. The ‘art of living’ reminds me of this, and it is fitting I am reminded of this tonight.

Peace to you :)
