fossicking.

I went exploring around the rockpools this afternoon and found some little treasures (excluding a live starfish about the size of a 5 cent coin, something that looked like a trilobite fossil, a dead crab and seahorse, as well as numerous dead jellyfish- all of which I decided it was better to leave on the sand). I've just started reading "My Family and Other Animals" by Gerald Durrell, about the author's childhood growing up in Corfu, where he basically spends his days exploring the island's beaches and olive groves with his dog Roger, watching spiders, beetles and caterpillars for hours on end. I think a bit of the childish wonder rubbed off on me as I ended up spending a good hour kneeling by the rockpools, trying to get a better look at the mini-world inside each one. There was a huge low-lying cloud hugging the escarpment the whole time I was down there, which made it just that bit more surreal. An awesome afternoon.
