We went and watched the sunrise this morning from the top of the escarpment. It was very beautiful (but very cold).
How amazing that every morning there is this opportunity (if you wake up early enough) to witness such an incredibly awe-inspiring thing, and remember for perhaps the only time in the whole day that the Earth is spinning.
Last time we went up I took a polaroid from the same spot.
I'm also taking the day off uni today. And these few precious 'extra' hours have made it feel like suddenly my day has swelled and opened up in front of me. I'm going to write a long-awaited letter to a friend, get a long overdue start on an assignment, and drinks lots of tea.
(Meanwhile, here are some red things from my room. An amazing, well worn copy of The Brothers Karamazov belonging to my boyfriend, that I am trying to precariously read without damaging the spine. A small bottle of red ink from Newtown. A packet of Egyptian chewing gum given to me by Yayi. A lovely letter and postcard in a red envelope from my sweet friend Paige (who I intend to reply to today!). A patch of fabric from Hanoi that provokes good travel memories. A stolen salt shaker mushroom that has been to New Zealand with me. Box of Redheads. Silk thread. My favourite lead pencil.)
